Hobby

This is something that definately makes me think about what my hobbies/passions are and what I would love to do and/or accomplish in life. What would your dream job be like? What are your hobbies right now and what would you like to be doing (maybe in the future)? I find it very hard to name one actual hobby at the moment. For a long time I would have said; blogging. But at the moment, I'm having some sort of writers block. I love to look at other blogs, follow several vloggers on youtube but it seems that it just doesn't bring me the inspiration for creating my own articles, blogs or collages. With that beeing said, I'm very happy at the moment! I just made a promotion at work, I'm a great relationship (and have been for the past years), I have a lovely house and garden and adorable pets. So 'finding' a real hobby should, to me, not be something you're looking for but something you come accross that makes you happy while you're doing it.
Anyway, I do agree with this quote. I think, your job is a very big part of your life and therefor should be something that, besides making you get a paycheck in the end of the month, at least you don't hate doing... And working out in any way, from swimming to horsebackriding or running and doing something creative are great additions in making you healthy & happy and increasing your quality of life!

Happy Easter!

Here's some music for a perfect day of relaxing, spending time with family and/or friends and brunching ;-)
I'm really in to nu-jazz. Have you ever heard of this kind of music?
Luckily for me there are a couple of 'Saint-German-des-Prés-Café' -cd's you can listen on youtube. I'm definately going to buy them!

p.s. They're named after a district/quarter in Paris (arrondisement 6/7 to be exact), says enough right?

How to be a perfect host

Having people over for a dinner-, party of do they sleep over? Here's a few tips on how to be a 'perfect host'!

♥ Ask your guest if they have any allergies or dislikes when it comes to food and drinks, and keep that in mind when you go shopping or start cooking ;-)  have enough food an drinks, it's always better to buy and/or make a little extra than have your guest leave with an empty stomage!  Are your guests ok with pets? Or are they allergic? Vacuum and sweep the floor extra beforehand and keep the pets away from your guests  Know how to set a table, and put a little extra attention in decoration (especially when everyone is staying over for a holiday)  Is your toilet/ bathroom clean? Stock up on toilet papier and other toiletries anyone might need ♥ Music should suit the occasion and shouldn't be that loud so that no-one can carry on a conversation  ♥  Are they sleeping over as well? Always have crispy clean bed-linnen extra (clean) towels and more than enough pillows, sheets and blankets. Nobody should be cold at night!  Make everyone feel welcome, special and appreciated. That means spending time with your guest(s) and giving them your full attention  ♥ Thank your guest(s) for coming over!

What are your tips/suggestions on beeing a great host?

Southern Charm

Southern Charm is one of my favorite tv-shows at the moment! I have to say, I'm a huge fan of Cameran Wimberly-Eubanks.
Southern Charm is an reality television series that follows the professional and personal lives (and social events) of seven 'socialites' who live in Charleston, South Carolina. Have you ever watched it (or just never even heard of it)? Right now season 2 has started, ofcourse I've already seen S2E01.

Here's what IMDB says about the show:'The notoriously closed society of Charleston, South Carolina unlocks the gates of their centuries-old plantation homes for a real-life look at how modern-day Southern aristocracy lives. Get charmed by the social scene which is bound by tradition and ostentation unlike any other culture in America, through a group of the city's most charismatic gentlemen and their Southern belle equals.'

Curious? Here's a sneak peek.

Seersucker dress(es)

I'm in love with this type of fabric. From mens' shorts to super girly dresses, everything seems to look good in light blue, yellow or pink seersucker.
Since there are little to none dresses like these available anywhere here, I'm going to make some of my own. And maybe even start selling them on my blog? If you're interested, please let me know!

What's your favorite?

The rules of a lady.

I'd like to think that a true lady is elegant, kind, beautiful from inside and out, well-educated, intelligent, open minded, knows what she want but will not use someone else as a stepping stone.

You've might seen these 'rules' on tumbler, blogs and twitter. There are a few different tumbler account but here you can find 241 rules or guide-lines so far. Scroll down for are a few of my favorites.

#Iwokeuplikethis

You want to wake up looking all perfect and Instagram-worthy? Well these 5 tips might help a little!

1. Always remove your make-up! Didn't you mom already teach you that? Still, it takes a minute or two to properly remove your make-up. When I'm tired I just use some make-up remover wipes and then a wash cloth with some cold water.
2. Use a nice thick layer of (night) cream. Even on your hands, neck and clevage to restore damaged skin. I like to use vitamin C or E serum/ drops or cream.
3. A silk or satin pillow case can help prevent wrinkles and damaged hair.
4. I like to put my hair up in a loose bun and then pull on my hair in the front for extra volume. This tric helps me waking up with beautiful hair with lots and lots of volume. Don't really get what I mean? Watch this video clip (and forward to the part were she shows you how to put your hair up).
5. Get enough sleep! Make sure your bedroom is a quiet place without too much distractions.

The babies.

 Saartje.

Some pictures just because they're the cutest (as every 'pet parent' would say).

I can't walk outside for 10 min with Saar (our dog) without someone asking if he/she can pet her. Everyone thinks she's so cute, soft, fluffy and sweet. And yes, luckily for us, she is! She is a kind dog and usally really likes the attention.
Also, our cat does too! She doesn't get out of our house and garden (we live at a busy street) but she really likes it when we are at home ourselves or have visitors. The thing she loves the most is watching me do my make-up or blowdrying my hair or something like that. She likes to watch and sometimes falls asleep. Isn't that sweet? She seems to think watching me (or my boyfriend) is calming, even when we just do some household chores she loves to be near and watch us.
Fleurtje.

Do you have any pets? And what are they like?
